Default 2014 Purvis Eureka Annual Meet - 40th Anniversary!

I just had a thought that I might bring this to your attention. Next year the Purvis Eureka will be 40 years old. It's already being organized by the man himself Allan Purvis. It's being held in Melbourne, Victoria on the weekend of the 25th of October. If you're planning a trip Down Under next year, this could be a good time to come over.

Ok, so the annual meet is this coming weekend!! Woot!! Not so woot is my Eureka isn't going to make it this year, though I'd have dearly loved it to be there, considering it's the 40th anniversary. The Eureka is sick, and won't be making it to Melbourne. Won't be making rego next monday either. Having 5 liters of petrol in with your 4 liters of oil in the sump doesn't make for a very happy engine.

But I am going, and I'll be taking plenty of photos. We've also apparently been asked to partake in a display for the Melbourne Motorclassica (probably best thought of as our equivalent of Pebble Beach, at least one of our top classic car events) celebrating '100 years of Australian Motoring'. I don't see is being in the main building, but somewhere outside. Guess I'll have to wait and see!!

Either through the injectors or fuel regulator at best guess. Could be any of the fuel injectors (as far as I know, they've never been replaced, and the engine is at least 24 years old!!), and/or the regulator. When I had a shit ton of work done on it, the guy also put on a Bosch fuel pump. Not what I wanted but it was done anyway. I'm not sure what model, but it's perfectly possible that it's pumping out way to much psi, and it's either killed the fuel regulator and/or the fuel injectors.

So I have to go back to square one, pull the new fuel pump, find a pump that the car was originally speced for (Subaru ea82t, in this case from a Vortex, called the XT there in the US & UK), and the fuel injectors & regulator. And replacing the fuel injectors will mean draining the water cooled intercooler and pulling that off so I can get to the injectors. Oh, and the fuel pump is behind the bloody fuel tank. So that could be some fun too.

Ok peeps, I not long got home. The Meet was fun, but the Motorclassica...nearly had me in tears, it was that beautiful. I have over 400 photos from the weekend , so it will take some time to pull them off the camera and up to my PhotoBucket account.

But here's a teaser from my phone;

I've finished uploading my photos. Took a few hours, and added nearly 40% to my PhotoBucket account!! Yikes!

And the Melbourne Motorclassica.

From outside the fence...

...what's that I spy, over beyond the black gazebo??

There it is again!

What is that strange contraption...?!

Ah, it's one of those weird kitcar thingies, right?

Some high powered motors there!!

Enough games. We all know that they're Eurekas. On track!! Well not really. I do like the look of the photo with the wall of slicks at the bottom of the photo though.

Two gunmen, facinging off at high noon. Both draw their guns! Who has the fancier method of entry!?! Obvious really. Maclaren 0 - Purvis 1. 8]

And then I went inside the Royal Exhibition Building. I was lost for words and nearly in tears. Such beauty captured in metal, carbon fiber, kevlar and fiberglass.

This one of the Mercedes is probably my favorite photo of the day.

A little bit of an arty shot.

You pretty much had to walk past the 3 Eurekas to get into the Royal Exhibition Building.

And finally these guys were playing hockey, on unicycles. As if riding unicycles isn't hard enough!!

So, this link is to my photos for the 2014 Melbourne Meet, and this one is to the 2014 Melbourne Motorclassica.
