Default AC kit for a sterling

This guy claims to make a AC kit for the Sterling

I emailed him asking for a price on just the mounting hardware for the compressor motor to a VW motor. Of course I never got a quote for one but he says he makes a kit for the sterling

Its a turn off for me when you ask somebody a question and they don't answer it

He says he makes them but he never sent anything on it.

Here's the email

Hi

I see you make a AC system for early style bugs.

I have a kit car that has a bug engine in it and I'm thinking of putting AC in it.

My question is do you sell just the compressor and the mounting hardware and the pulleys/belts to your system.

If so what would be the cost

Thanks

Brett

And here's the company

There's a guy in Vegas (I think) that makes brackets for vw, can't remember the company's name. They were reasonable but I can't remember the company name. He makes 2 or 3 different veriations to fit different carborator setups.

His email is 67vwac@gmail.com

I'll attach a picture, it's not my engine but I have the same setup

My intentions were to help out the guys with VW power plants.

I was trying to get a total price together of what it would take to install the unit I found and the extra hardware required to put AC in their car.

Yes I saw that company here in vegas. Didn't email him because I thought getting a price from one place would be enough and give members an idea of prices, but then when I didn't get my quote but instead I got a sales pitch for a complete system with no info on it. Not even a picture just a price. Nothing on where its mounted or what the kit contains. Big turn off for me, didn't see any reason to pursue the matter with that company.

Was just trying to help

Bottom line though is, if the VW guys wanted AC in their cars they can contact the companies and see if they can get a price from them for just the mounting hardware and the compressor.

With my Gen 3 Dash I have more room under it than a stock dash so installation is going to be easier.

So like I said before measure to make sure everything will fit before wasting time and materials.

Much as I would love A/C I cannot think of anywhere to fit the compressor. The normal space next to the distributor is gone unless it was really SMALL and any possible alternative location would ruin the look of the engine bay such as higher next to the right air filter, over the filler/breather cap is gone with the addition of a cranked filler tube.. That's why I was thinking of an electric powered one or an alternative.
