Default Paramagnetic Paint WOW!

I dont know the success of failure of this product, but the options are endless in the cool factor.

Imagine you car warping colors in real time like a cuttle fish?

Paramagnetic paint lets you change your car's color on a whim -- Engadget

This idea is just too cool not to post this!

That article is 5 years old. Apparently it didn't go anywhere.. click the link to "temporary paint" and it'll show a paint layer being peeled off like a sheet. Guess vinyl wraps took care of that portion of the market. I can't see iron filings being embedded in paint without some serious weird issues. Ever play with 'magnetic paint' for kids? Same idea, different binder. And don't get it wet..

I would have to see whats involved before I decide. But yes it would be amazing to see. Problem is, you have to no doubt curb "The Show" while driving. You'd attract so much attention, you would no doubt cause accidents. People haven't seen something like this. So you combine an exotic sports car, with an even more exotic paint, and you will get front seat at all sorts of demolition derbies.

But it would really set off your car at a show.

Default Set it up with remote control

The best thing would be able to have it connected to a remote and change the color to it while you parked in the parking lot and see peoples reaction to it when the walk by and you can see them from the window of the establishment you are at.

That would just be the best. That would never get OLD

These cars set themselves off at shows.

Letterman had some fancy paint on his old one.
Did you cause any accidents when you went cruising Ric?

I view it more like In the movies when the heroes car changes colors to hide from police...
I know I'm a bit of a comic geek

Actually, almost once. Sitting at a red light, lead car in the left lane. Cross traffic was starting through.. lead car in the left turn lane stopped dead in the middle of the intersection gawking. Lead car in the opposing left turn lane almost nailed him broadside 'cause he was doing the same thing...

ok, then take Ricks paint job, dazzling as it was, and imagine it doing this in an intersection.

Cuttle Fish Changing Colors - YouTube

Imagine those color warps being reds, greens, blues, blacks, and whites

Let the 911 calls begine

Ok, let's give this topic a rest. The paint never came to fruition from what I found; all the articles relating to it are simply link backs to the one posted. Personally, I don't think it would be able to do multiple colors in separate areas but change from white (default) to a limited palette across the car. Of course, the manufacturer(s) would have to figure out how to wire doors, hoods, etc, etc to make it all work. IMHO it will never happen. Too cost prohibitive.
