The lightened flywheel will only affect how quickly the engine gets up to revs. It won't affect performance per se, though you'll have a slightly more difficult time matching revs with your shift...

You need torque, not horsepower. Beetle engines were never meant to run at highway speeds like we have today. See how the Kadrons are after you get them back and build from there. A good header...
