I thought this shape of wheel would allow easier egress and entrance

It does - a little. Having a tilt column helps a lot as well. And no, this wheel technically isn't legal - DOT wheels have to be "in the round" and yes, it was difficult to turn quickly with it. Looked cool, wasn't practical

oh my old v 8 s-10 I cut the steering wheel into the night rider shape. Yes it was impractical, but fun. With the h design you could take one hand under and turn that wheel 180 in a flash thus sliding around corners or should I say at corners lol

Mo just states that it must be a complete circle not that must be round.

Just got my wheel, same as OP but in red, these people on Ebay do a fantastic range and cheap too but well made, it's not crap.
