I thought I'd start this thread to try to get some ideas and motivation going for folks. It is the unofficial 40th anniversary of the car, so the challenge was thought of to try to get 40 complete cars to the show. That's quite the challenge, and they don't all have to be Sterlings. I'll be talking with the Carlisle promoters about activities to do (a cruise to Gettysburg is what the dune buggy crowd does - one can always be set for us as well). If I can get a rough count of who may attend next year, I'll be better able to set up a place on the showfield to put the cars - maybe even into one of the pavilions if the car manufacturers aren't going to show again. I may even try to get a special guest or two... we'll see. Lots of planning ahead!

I will say 365 is a bit early for most to say they are in. That being said I really want to say I am in. The car won't be pretty but hopefully it will move and travel there on it's own.

I'm kinda with vpogv in that a year is a long time to plan, especially for someone like me who can't decide what I'm going to have for supper. I do, however, have next year as a goal. I may not have new paint, but I intend to be sporting an automatic and a Dodge four-banger.

*thumbs up* Well, that's why I'm giving a years' heads-up - to give folks incentive to put it on the calendar. I would probably need the "definite-maybes" by late January for a body count so I can coordinate with the showgrounds for placement. Where we usually sit won't hold more than 10 cars or so - I'd like to get us on the field with Dave and SSC in the pavilion next to us... so if the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll all have a place to pull the cars into!

I plan on being there, the my car might not be perfect by then but I plan on getting alot of things taken care of this winter and hope to drive it there. But if the entire gang or pack wants to go I will have to trailer it to the show.

While I am on here can someone please help me, I have been trying to load pictures of my car so that I can register it and get some input on a few issues but I can't seem to load any.

Letterman your pictures of the sizzle car show (I think that is what it was called) look great, what is the resolution or picture size that you used?

If you need help on the car, myself and Warren (farfegnubbin) aren't that far from you, relatively speaking. Photos on the site here are pretty straightforward: save them to a spot on your computer and simply upload under the little paperclip at the top of the reply or post control panel. I've uploaded right off my camera before, so those photos were at least 300dpi at full size. Save them as .jpgs at 150dpi and see if you have more luck with that.



As for activities and such during the show, I'm still looking for ideas from anyone. A cruise is still in the plans if the weather cooperates (pray for the same weather as this past year); I just have to get out there and physically drive a route I want to plan. There is a restaurant about 40 minutes from the grounds that sits on a fair size lake, I thought that might make a cool photoshoot opportunity.
Lack of general funds is keeping me from implementing a special guest as airfares keep rising. That's one thing I do want to do, though, so I'll keep at it. I may also produce a one-off anniversary embroidered patch for the event. Those who can't make it and want one can simply ask and I'll send it out by mail. Still in the design stage - I'll post when I have it together.

I know I said it last year, but ended up not even being in the state of PA. In 2013 I definitely would like to be there, so I am a definite maybe. Much more definite than maybe. I need to sand my car and repaint it. This time I am going to go with a simple black...I think. I just bought a red car so the red fetish is satisfied for now.*laugh* I am glad you are planting this in people's mind early. I'm all for it. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

just a little tongue and cheek humor, but when people needle me about its origin on a few occasions I have said it was a sterling cimbria..........that usually shuts them up. It amazes me how many people recognize sterling or at least the name.

I keep challenging Dave to bring a bare body and rolling chassis and we have a build during the 2 1/2 days... maybe this should be the one. Trailer everything you have for the car and we'll pitch in and get as much done as the day allows...

I've got it penciled in, but we'll see. I had hoped to get some work done on it by then, but it's not looking likely. I do have a trailer thought, and have mentioned it to the queen bee, so we'll see...

I will be there with my car. I know it will not be finished but then again who's is really ever finished. *laugh*
I will have it drivable and in good order but there are still alot of things that I still want to do to it.
I think it would be great to have someone's car there for everyone to help work on. Even if it is a basic start build that the owner can refine later.
