Carlisle 2015

Late start - only two months away! Don't know what my schedule will be this year. If the car is running and driving reliably beforehand, it's entirely possible that I'll just be there Saturday instead of all three days. Might be an interesting challenge driving it on the Pennsylvania turnpike. I can follow the other cars heading that way!

Plans may change, of course, depending on how my other half feels that week. Anyone else going?

I won't make it this year, but my goal is to have my car "done" enough this summer/fall to load it on a trailer for Carlisle 2016 - a DECADE after I bought it. *very frustrated*

May 15-17, weekend after Mothers Day. Start times are always 8A and go until sundown. Fridays tend to be slower with vendors still arriving and setting up, Saturday is the "big" day, and Sundays are typically done by noon, even though the show officially runs until 2P.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to miss this year. My daughter is graduating from college this year. I've put so much money into that, I just want to make sure that it happens. *laugh* I'm totally there for 2016, though.

Well... I'll be there, but likely without the car. Still having major issues with the engine.. might have to pull it yet again. Or, just might sell it cheap and be done with it..

Not going to make it this year. I will be in Korea for a few weeks and then in Orlando for a week after that. Busy, busy, busy. Can't wait till next year though. The 516 will be road ready.

No worries Mike. I know how that is! If I get there - and at this rate it probably won't be with the car - I'll Skype you from the field!

Now if EVERYONE ring fenced that weekend as show time and had the guts just to say, "sorry, that weekend is already booked", it would be great, only 12 months to go. Sometime you just have to be where YOU want to be and do what YOU want to do.
I have the same problem here with Stoneleigh, anyone would think it was sprung on us at a months notice.*hmmm*

I tried to explain to the president, the dean of the college, and esteemed members of the faculty, the importance of this event. They, unfortunately, were unsympathetic to my pleas. *hmmm*

:) Life, as it's said, gets in the way sometimes. I've hit the show every year for the past 12 years.. but this year I won't be doing my usual 3 day stint. Just Saturday, if it doesn't rain.

I'm planning on taking the Sebring down on Saturday.I have been daily driving it and its running pretty good. I just put new wheel bearings in it for the trip. That's one thing I dread having to fix on the road. almost every other problem you can patch to get you to the next town. Is my car going to have any other family members there? Where's the best place to park, or do they tell you where?

They'll tell you where to go after you register. You'll have to go in Gate 4 where the registration building is, then out to the field. You'll probably see other kits and buggies where you're supposed to be - just pick an open spot. Should be quite a few. Unfortunately yours may be the only one there. I'm out with still working on the exhaust, Fuzz had other plans that were unavoidable, I don't know what Warren's plan is yet (webmaster). We were talking about riding out together... either in my Vette or if he has one of his cars road legal, maybe his Cimbria. Try to get there early....

Likely be there

Rick and crew,

I just realized that Carlisle was this coming weekend! I have made zero progress on my kit since last years show when I swore that I'd have a lot of progress to report, maybe even a running car. Well, I do have a running car, it's just a donor that hasn't been disassembled yet. :) But I changed jobs to one that pays less but has more hours - not the kind of life change conducive to new projects. But I'm 110% happier than at my old job, so I'm not complaining. I'm about 50/50 as to if I can make it. If I do, I'll arrive at 8am and leave at 11am as I usually do - which means from DC to PA there is more time in the car than at the show. Rick - I'll gladly play freeway spotter if you need one (or was it someone else who asked for that?). I'm assuming Warren will make an appearance? He does live like 3 minutes away. :)

Haven't heard from Warren yet. I've got a text to him to see what his plans are for tomorrow. True to form, there's now a 50% chance of t-storms, so the field may likely be very sparse. I'll try to get there relatively early, so PM me with your cell number and I'll give you a ring when I get to the field.

Yep, just got back. Warren and I drove in together early this morning and found the two cars on the field which was nice - thanks for representing us today! It was (still is) hazy, hot and humid and the a/c on my car of choice today decided to take a leave of absence. We didn't stay long, just enough to chat with the owners for a bit and peruse the field for the weird and interesting....

Cool Alpine. Funky from the rear...

Brabus built Smart 2/4. Only available in the UK, this one was on loan from a museum in Kentucky..

New Alfa 4C... just gorgeous...

Fiat Monza Zagato Abarth

Lancia Scorpion

BMW Z1, and yes, the doors disappear downwards electrically...
