Choosing the right oil filter

I grew up that around 2000 - 3000 miles its time for an oil and filter change.
My neighbor got one of those twin turbo Tundra's. He tells me his oil change intervals are around 8000 miles.
I'm curious at using 0W20 and summer temps well into the 100's plus twin turbos if the engine will last.

Toyota engines, Ford engines and even Chevy engines with single or twin turbos have all suffered early engine failure, but it isn't from the oil. EcoBoost Fords mainly suffer from the internal water pump failures on the 3.6L (unfortunately, I have one of those, but an n/a engine.. I'm hoping to avoid that issue). Toyota and Chevy turbos suffer from the direct injection issues, Ford to a lesser degree. With the direct injection and Chevy's cylinder deactivation on the larger displacement engines, coking of the intake and injectors is a huge issue. Almost all new engines use 0w20 oils due to the tight tolerances.. I still change my oil at 3 or 5K miles (depending on how I've been driving). I would never wait until 8k on a twin turbo anything.
