Looks good! And yeah, the 20's are too big. What are the physical dimensions of the Suby and transmission setup? I've been trolling Suby forums forever and have never actually found anything useful.

After successful body fit check I took it off again to finish up mounting tabs for the torsion tube. Welded all joints and began fabricating upper coilover mounts. Next I will be working on fuel tank bracket and transmission mount.

Thanks. That was not by choice. If you recall, I had a bent torsion tube so instead of gambling on another old VW chassis I just decided to build exactly what I want.

To set properly dimensions of rear bumper structure I once again had to mount body onto the chassis. I also took that opportunity to do more experimenting with wheels and decided to fit check my Porsche racing set on my Cimbria and I like the way they fit. Front wheels are 19x8.5 and rear are 19x12. They currently have racing slicks, 235 in the front and 315 on the back. But if I switch to street tires I would like to go wider, 245 in the front and 345 in the back. Obviously I would need to lower my car few inches to close that ugly wheel gap but otherwise I am very pleased about the fit. And the best part, I don't need to run wheel adapters. Does anyone else run 345 tires in the back?

Fit checked Sterling luvers courtesy of Roger (ratrog64). Follows body shape well but needs to be extended to cover entire opening.

I orginally wanted to go with 345 tires but settled with 325 as I was able to get them on sale. So the rear set is 325/30R19 and front's are 245/35R19. They are Copper Zeon RS3-S. I could not install front tires as existing bolt pattern is wrong size.

I am now at no turning back point for the front suspension as I cut off VW suspension to prepare for double wishbone front suspension.

It's now official, this Cimbria no longer has any VW parts but at least it's still a rear engine car.

I finished welding double wishbone front suspension. Few more finishing touches (gas tank bracket and battery holder) and the frame will be ready for paint.

Will need all that rubber to be able to put all that turbo power to the ground. Engine currently tuned for 320whp but capable of 400hp with larger turbo and injectors. But even at my current tune I will have a power to weight ratio better than in Hellcat so most likely even with these tires traction will be the limiting factor.

I wish I didn't have all the VW stuff I have when I see something like this. I would really love to build a chassis and drive-train like this for my next Sterling.

To be honest, if I had more funds to spend on this build I would have gone with DOBBERTIN adapters and C6 Corvette suspension all around. Would have been much easier to implement. But I would still go with WRX drivetrain as it's powerful, lightweight and compact. Plus I just love boxer engine rumbling sound.

I was interested to see the chassis. very similar to the one I have in my folder only I thought of doing it all in alloy with Citroen hydophumatic suspension, to get over the speed bumps, and a Honda 2.2 V6 transverse engine with auto box and a Moon ace GT body and a 2014 Chevy Corvette style. dash.


I love that dash.



I know it's all been done but

I finished supports for the front and rear end of the body. Supports are spot welded. Will finish up welds when body is off the frame. Now fiberglass body has zero flex. Radiator fits nicely as well. Will work on the bracket next.

Lip located forward of radiator is resting on the frame. Need to trim fiberglass and drill bolt holes.

The sloped cut is where the body support meets the chassis support. This makes it self aligning when body is lowered onto the frame. The two sections will be jointed with plates. The chassis supports are still missing mounting holes as it's impossible to drill them with body in place. So will be done later.
