Fuel Gauge Interface Module

It's rather expensive but it would solve my issue with the Subaru sending unit and the Honda fuel gauge talking nice to each other

Might help others that are mismatching fuel gauges to fuel senders

I bought a similar one, although haven't fitted it yet.

quite a bit cheaper although not sure on the shipping costs

Tried to order one from there but they wanted you to have a paypal account or a direct bank transfer. I don't have a paypal account. Just wanted to put it on my visa card but that wasn't going to happen with them.

Found the same thing here
Electronic Fuel Gauge Matcher - Car Builder Solutions - Kit Car Parts and Accessories

Ended up just getting the one from speedway motors. should be here next week

Thought this would help Yaughn out with his mismatch situation

If I read the specs right the one that speedway motors is selling has the low fuel light and the slosh technology built into it and in the other units from the UK that was extra so that maybe the difference in price.

neat gadget, but I plan on just adding a resistor to my circuit to make sure my fuel gauge is accurate at EMPTY. After all, I'll know at the pump when the tank is FULL, but as I drive I'll really need to know how close I am to EMPTY!

Now this kind of thinking I just don't get. I understand it but just don't get it.

You've spent thousands of dollars and countless hours building your car and your going to get cheap on a simple fix like this. It's not like there is no solution for it. If you order the basic one from the UK it would probably be under $100
To me if that's what your going to do, a low level warning light would be cheaper than wasting money on a gauge. Just have it come on when there's about two gallons left in the tank.

Would you buy a new car if the manufacturers built their cars this way??
Who needs to know where full is or 1/2 as long as you know where empty is.

Just my thoughts on the subject. You'll do what you want to do I know.

For me I want the gauge to read right. I didn't do all of this work and spent all this money to do something half ass now.

Haven't posted anything new on my build lately and there's a reason but for now let me just say that I'm going to give it my best shot to get the car on the road this year. I'm done screwing around with it. No new mods. I'm going to finish whats already in motion.
Most of the mechanical stuff is done. Just body work is left.

Thanks

Brett

If you want to buy me one, I'll happily install it. :D Otherwise there are many more important things on which for me to spend $100...

Ah, so its a money thing*laugh* That makes a difference

JUST the bodywork left? *laugh*

You'll be happy to know that I'm making it a duel exhaust setup and the center section is getting a face lift, and its staying that way. No more changes

You don't get much for your money.

They could have made it more compact if they wanted to.

Well at least it's a one time thing and the gauge will read correct now, just need to find a place to put it where it will be away from the elements

Looks like a fairly standard project box. The do come in several sizes, but maybe the circuit board was to big for the next one down in size. Just make one up in fiberglass. ;) :D

Thought I'd update this post

Not installed yet but I thought I'd calibrate it before it goes in. Lots of room on the work bench and I'm not on my head trying to make it work and trying to read the gauge.

Well to make it short

IT WORKS!!!!

The Honda gauge now talks nice to the Subaru sending unit. And they said mix marriages don't work.

The only thing that you need to know is if you take the sending unit and go from empty to full and vice versa the gauge takes a while to get there. I guess thats the built in sloshing feature working.

Same goes when you adjust the potentiometer for setting the fuel gauge needle to the full or empty mark, the needle moves slow

Instructions were easy to follow

Or just 'pot' it using resin or hot glue gun, no case and 100% waterproof, (once you have set it up of course, or leave the DIP switches open).
