My son recently purchased a Bremen Sebring one is what we were told. Current challange is a windshield. I keep running into dead ends on this.

Here are a few pictures. The current window says Viracon on it which no longer produces windshields. So I am currently with CGS who took over the windshield line from Viracon. There is no number on the window as a part number. Amy help on what year the car is and ensuring we get this right when ordering parts would be appre

Hello Anthony and welcome. You have a series 1 Sebring, built in the early '80's. That windshield is the same as the Sterling, so if CGS has the molds - we're interested. As for everything else, for the body parts, nothing is available nor interchangeable with the Sterling line. Chassis/engine should be VW, and parts are readily available through any online aircooled VW supplier.

Thanks for thr reply. We are trying hard to procure something for this car. I hope you are not saying we are done and will not find a window for her? I have an email bounced back to Pilkington glass in the UK with measurements sent as well. Still waiting.

You won't hear from Pilkington ever. They've stopped making the Nova/Sterling glass. Yes, with this particular generation car you will be able to get a front windshield - the owner of the company owns this forum. He will see this post. Windshields are on order from the manufacturer and should be here by end of the summer (hopefully).

I did get my windshield from Pilkington, but it was for Eagle SS which is the same as Cimbria SS. But it may be different than Sterling/Nova.

I'm amazed that Pilkington sold one here in the States. Did you call them direct or how did you go about securing a screen (which is different than the Sterling)?

I reached out via email requesting a quote for Eagle SS windshield. Within 3-4 days I received a quote which included price of the windshield, cost of building a custom crate, and shipping charge to a local customs office at the destination port, which in my case was local international airport only 20 min away. I paid something like $1000 for that and additional $250 for all sorts of customs charges. Very smooth transaction at what I would consider a reasonable cost.

I should have bought two, as it would only cost $500 more for the additional one. But I wasn't sure how the whole transaction would pan out so didn't want to risk more funds.

Is there a way to secure a window for my father /son project. I don't know the owner of thr company or this site that has the windows that are hopefully availableby end of summer. Can I put money down etc.

Hi Anthony. The new batch of windows should be here in the States by the end of the summer. I’ll put you on the list of those interested. We have 25 coming and maybe 4 to 5 spoken for so you’ll be fine. Til then, keep going on your project.

When there is a green light for us to receive a window please pass along estimate cost and how this process works to pay for and ship the window.
