Dave, the owner of Sterling Sports Cars in Pittsburgh for a bunch of years, used aluminum shell racing seats in his personal car. Kind of like you're saying (Magura,) they were minimalistic yet acceptably comfy. (I don't think they were adjustable. I can't remember.) It's definitely a solution. I've been around home-built aircraft all of my life and they are always a little cramped and awkward but oh so fun. To a pretty big extent, I'll tolerate an exotic vehicle being a bit quirky.

And yeah, Brett, I don't disagree. I'd love to have a seat that looked a little more modern and fit a little better (available for sale.) And perhaps someday when I'm feeling creatively stubborn I'll make one just for the heck of it. And I'll enjoy it, and it'll be nice. And maybe I'll be able to sell like one pair. And maybe that will be okay. The economics of producing ones for sale are brutal.
