Looking for rear light ideas

I have the "upside down TransAm" light configuration currently - and poorly implemented at that. Big gaps, drivers side of the opening was rough-cut to make them fit, seems like someone wanted to make it "legal" and that was it.

So I consider this a blank slate, thinking about glassing the whole thing in and doing some round lights... maybe something like the Lotus.

BUT - I know what a huge PITA that would be ...

Anyone running round lights care to post a rear pic? Looking for as many ideas as I can find.

Here are a few nice ones.

The last one is what I made for my car. I had to extend the rear by about 4 inches to cover my Corvair 6 cylinder engine properly. If not for covering the engine then it would not have the spoiler built in.

I noticed none of these pics have the visible muffler - (or what I call, "the hemorrhoid" ) - what exhaust are you running?

The rear of this one is pretty atrocious right now - bought it to do a full resto, mechanically it's done so now I'm ready to start on the cosmetic issues. Obviously this exhaust didn't make the cut :) But I don't want to replace it with the exact same setup, just don't care for the visible exhaust much.

Considering other exhausts I've seen, that one is pretty well done.

Here are my taillights, btw.

Man you guys are giving me some ideas... now I gotta find someone in the area that's good with Fiberglass to kick a few things around, I'd love to learn to do it myself but I have enough unfinished projects as it is :p

Dropped the Sterling off at the body shop yesterday and finally decided what I was going to do ... recess the lights a little bit and put a tinted panel in front. The car will be Satin black and I think the contrast with the gloss solid panel will look pretty cool when it comes out.

Poorly-photoshopped mockup attached.

Interesting. Looking forward to the results. Satin is a hard finish to keep, just like a flat. You can't wash it with anything that will remotely scratch and you can't wax it. Plan on a/c in the near future - black in Florida with these cars is never a good idea :D

Got A/C covered. :) There are a lot more satin care products out now than there were a few years back, so I don't mind the extra care. Spray and wipe and hope birds don't mark their territory on it faster than I can clean it off. :)

I like it. Will come down to how nicely that recessed lip for the cover is done and how finished it looks. Make sure you have lighter tint or brighter tail lights.

A 3rd brake light wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just above the rear tunnel or the edge of the engine lid.

I have a 8" strip above the rear window and it makes a heck of a difference with such a low car. puts the brake light right in a following drivers face.
