That's got potential! Be careful how you put them together, though. You'll need to make sure that there is a retro-reflective layer in the red, and most importantly, you'll need them DOT rated. PA is getting very finicky with kits and buggies the past couple years, I don't know how Kentucky operates.

Very nice! Are you going to hand construct these, or buy parts and combine them to make these lights?

I was thinking if you were going to order LED's and do your own soldering you could get some red traffic tape and lay it on the breadboard, then poke the LED's through it to get that reflective surface Rick was talking about.

I have some spare red reflective tape if you need some. Stop sign red.

Reflective tape isn't DOT compliant for lighting - it must have a 75° angle of reflection or something like that. There is some tape that is much more aggressive - it looks like there are little squares in it - that may pass as it has a higher angle of reflection.

:worried: Dunno if that's enough or not. I would check with a local inspection station just to make sure. You may be required to have some sort of running lights on the rear as well, not just reflectors.

I'm not sure about KY, but in Tennessee we don't have an inspection, per se. Some of the counties have an emissions test that they have to pass, but no other particular inspection. I've seen an number of cars driving around with red tape that has almost no reflective qualities. This is Tennessee, however. Most of us don't wear shoes, either. *laugh*

I checked with the KY state police, and my rear lights would be legal. As for side maker lights, none are required, only reflectors, but I'm adding led marker lights anyway. My side mirrors have built in turn signals, so I don't have to add any additional indicators up front.*rock on*

Just an FYI; There is a red plastic sheet material that has the reflective feature that could be used in custom lighting. As I recall fed. laws requires @< 2 square inches of red reflectivetivity on
each side of the rear of a car. This can be bought @ many car show if they have vendors. To be sure you r way past this issue by now. Great build. Rick
