New look

I was planning to seal off the scoops(air intakes) that are on the top of the fenders. They are of no use to me or function to the car but in a recent journey to the junk yards I found these small scoops. They don't fit as they are, but I could easily make them fit. It changes the looks of the sides alittle and they look a whole lot better than some of the scoops that are offered as options(I think)
I could maybe route the air to the radiator to assist in getting fresh air to it

Just a thought

A very bad photo shop cut and paste rendering of how the scoop could be shaped.

I think it kind of lost something when I extended the lower part. Maybe not as much would look better

What do you think??

Maybe worth making??

It would be less work to cover up the intake with a scoop than seal it off completely.

It'll be a couple of months before I get to this so there's time to think about it

Would it be possible to flip them and use them to extract air from the cabin? The little bit I drove my machine it would get stuffy quick inside at times. I set up my linear actuators with a vent position that lifts the canopy two inches at the push of a button, for use at stoplights to get fresh air.

I suppose anything is possible.
Don't you have any cabin air or heat in the car? You could use one of Nic's sump inline fans for quite a bit of airflow without having to pop the top.

No, the design is wrong for pulling the air out.

It is possible to make a vent that would pull the air out but not sure where the best place to put it

Side of ear window tunnel venting out on the 'V's of the rear body under the louvers or aircraft style rotating vents in the side windows, Mine has a flip out on the rear lower corner of the side windows and a two speed Ford fan in the front blasting into the footwells and dash vents, stuffy? never.

The modified scoops look good. But just because I can, here's the other point of view;

I had never noticed that extra ridge the Eureka has on the outside of the body line where it meets the canopy before I saw it in these shots, seems to be on both cars.

Yeah, it's meant to be a 'shut' line, only on the F4. From memory neither the Sport or the PL30 had them.

I like the vent scoops. One of those things I keep thinking I will do but at the same time it's one more thing to do. *laugh*

Just playing with it.
Here's what I got so far. Can't have it sweep much farther forward because the opening will get narrower

I like the front of it. What do you think about sweeping the back of it following the body lines a little farther, elongating the piece a bit. That way it's not blended in but follows the lines of the car and looks like it was designed for a sterling. Though the more I look at it I think even now it fits better then the big eagle scoops. The color difference doesn't help.

Just a though I could be way off base. You've got the vision.*thumbs up*

Right now I have it wrapped around the opening(sort of:D), if I take it farther back it wouldn't direct the air into the opening that well.

The shape of this is a lower, slimmer profile than some that I've seen and it doesn't look like a box stuck on top like some do. Just my opinion.

Well I guess I should make another one for the other side.

Digging it Brett. Always have loved the elephant ears on the Eureka's, this makes those and adds a bit more sleekness. Personally I would take the bottom edge of the "scoop" and bring it so it mirrors the curve of the body line just under it. Depth of the scoop is spot on. *thumbs up*

Nicely done and I know what a pig it must have been to get it to fit the multiple curves on the body.

I'm not going to mess with it much more.

I'll build one for the other side and then make the molds for them.

I was asked if I would consider making an extra set and yes I would consider it. Not sure what the cost would be at this point.

Heres a picture of how close it follows the lines of the existing port
