Yeah, that's pretty common. I'd almost flip it upside down and put a weight in the middle where the latch would go and see if it'll move naturally. A little heat (like sitting in front of a heat lamp) for a couple hours might help it along. Once it's back in position, then lay a reinforcing layer of glass underneath to hold it there.

Well son of a... been working on the dash still - filling, sanding, getting straight lines. Well I pulled out the dash pod I finished up to test fit and get a feel for a few gaps on the dash. Well apparently there was a little oil residue on the shelf that I put the pod on. Over the last month or two the oil gradually soaked into the primer. *very frustrated*

Time to try a few solutions to clean it up as it will be painted.

Not too much you can do with it, other than stripping the primer back off. If it soaked into bondo, I'd suggest sitting it in a pan of denatured alcohol to see if it would wick the oil back out, or possibly a bath of dishwashing detergent. Hate when stuff like that happens...

Thanks for the advice Rick. I know it's soaked through so soaking might be my best bet. Amazing what a minute amount of oil residue can screw up.*freaking out mad*

Been able to fill and sand off and on for the last few weeks (more off than on) but things are progressing:
The dash is now getting ready for spot filler (*thumbs up*)
The driver's side pocket is ready for primer (*thumbs up*)
The canopy (where the latch was) needs one more coat of filler then spot putty (*thumbs up*)
Then onto finishing up filling and sanding the rear "bumper". *rock on*

One panel at a time.
Pictures will come this week(end).

The interior dash, pod and console are all 95% done. The dash still has just a bit of work to do around the outer vents to get them perfect and the center console needs the storage lid finished up and put on as well as some work to get it to fit with the seat belts now attached to the tunnel. I feel good where it's at and that the work is better left until I am ready to texture/paint so it's time to move on.

I will be throwing the rear valence up on the saw horses to finish next as well as a bit of glass work for the front bonnet again to get it straight and the latch glassed in.

Here are some recent pictures of the rear. Threw on the first coat of primer last night to get a better feel of how much is left. I think I can get it close to done by the end of the week. I am really happy with the look of it. Custom LED layout is next for the taillights.

Putting a smoked piece of lexan over that recessed area might look cool.

Brett

I second that!*thumbs up*

also using tape you can cut shapes out of the back of the tinted lexan to give the lights any shape you want. Other people will only see it when the lights come on.

I am not completely against the tinted covers as things continue to change on this car. The current plan is to paint the recessed area flat black. We will see.

Guess who failed to mount the gas tank before putting the body on? Hint: same guy who just spent the last few hours pulling the transmission out. *hmmm*

Filler, sand, prime, spot putty, sand, spot putty, finishing up the rear still.... boring I know so here are the taillights along with some LEDs. They will not be completely closed up for a while. I am thinking I still want to paint the back of the reflectors and possibly create dividers to better keep the upper and lower LED arrays from bleeding through - looking for a more solid line of light.

Dome light was outdated so thanks to some CREE leds I changed that. I think I am done with the LED projects for the car so back to sanding the rear bumper.
