Rear Valance Ideas

As some of you know #S009 is getting a face lift and I've been trying out different ideas for the rear valance. So with that being said for the past year I've been looking at the different designs that the manufactures have come up with. It seems to me that they put alot more effort on the looks of the front than they do to the rear(exotic cars excluded) To me the backs all look close to the same except for the tail lights.
I brought this up because I started to think(oh know! Not that!*hmmm*).Why not use some ideas used on the front of cars and use them for the back.
Now it just so happens that we have a 2009 Nissan Frontier and as I walked by it one day I started to wonder what the grill would look like if it was put in the rear of the car.
So after some photo editing this is what I came up with.


I'm not saying I'm going to use this but maybe it will help with giving me ideas because I need all the help I can get when it comes to design ideas.

Sometimes the best ideas are right there and you don't see them because your looking at what everyone else is doing instead.

It's a happy face! But actually, that's not a bad idea Brett. I'm facing the same issue with my other car... eventually. I'm wondering about the 'parachute' effect if, like most of the front fascia, isn't open, but has those faux grille portions.

You know I didn't see that till you mentioned it.
I was looking at the lines and how it would fit with the body lines. Plus I was looking at how it would look once the license plate and the backup lights were installed. The happy face would disappear once all of that was installed.
I was thinking of using the outside openings for the exhaust.
I find it interesting how people perceive things compared to how I do.

*laugh* Nah, it's just being married to a woman who judges cars by their "faces". She has a Mini Cooper. She made me make a license plate for the front with a smile on it. Need I say more?

I am digging the side vents they mimic the rest of the car. The center is a bit too open for my taste - not to mention you won't fit a license plate anywhere but zip tied to the vent mesh. I think keeping either the upper or lower half of the middle opening plus adding small rear diffuser fins could set it off a bit more.

Its not even that right now. It was just a thought.

alot of car manufacturers have a signature grill or front look that they stick to when they design a car. No matter what model it is if you look at the front you can tell who made it. but when it comes to the back there is no signature look. They all look the same basically. The rear doesn't get the same attention as the front.


Personally the rear of that car doesn't look that good to me. The red doesn't match the red of the body and I think stainless steel would have been a better choice if I had to do that. To use just expanded steel on a car like that just makes it look cheap to me.
