In the latest Kit Car magazine: Taylor Cable Products - Hyper-Fiber Composite Material

Pre-mixed fiberglass composite that is set by UV light. Available with embedded wire to keep a shape or without for complex curves. Looks interesting.. might have to order some to play with!

Thats actually kind of cool. Not having to keep pre-preg at 0 degrees is a plus.

But i worry about getting even exposure to what ever has been made. Seems you could end up with a half hardened piece if not properly exposed.

I wonder if this stuff is cost effective to use? They referred to carbon fiber, which is much more expensive than fiberglass obviously. So maybe it would be cost effective for smaller CF projects.

That was addressed in the magazine article. Essentially, if you put the piece in the sun it'll cure regardless - in about 10 minutes. For the garage workers, they suggest a couple UV lights directed at the surface when the final shape is fixed.

I wonder how thick it is. Do you know if there is any other way to set off the resin or is it just by the sun(or lights). I was just wondering how well it would work with overcast skys(does it need direct sunlight) anyway its a good find. Its probably not as messy either to work with.

From what I know, it's UV based. I believe UV ray still shine through on a cloudy day.

Go outside without a shirt and wait an hour. If your skin is now pink, the UV rays are fine!
