Trying to get a feel on how many folks might be coming so we can plan accordingly!

Right now, I'm planning to be there. I haven't had much time to devote to the car recently, so it's kinda up in the air as to whether it will be there or not. Also, is there a particular motel that I should call first. I'm sure that some of them are full by now. I've never been there, so suggestions are welcome.

Do your hotel reviews online. There are quite a few "low budget" ones in the area that I wouldn't stay at if my life depended on it. Unfortunately many of the better ones seem to be booked already, though that changes as the show get closer and reservations get cancelled. The options are to stay in outlying areas, like Chambersburg, Shippensburg, Harrisburg (lots of burgs here...) and travel in day of show. Or, if you like camping, you can camp on site for the whopping fee of $35 for the weekend. But you must pre-register to do that.

Woo-hoo! *rock on* Airfare prices dropped today and I had a $99 "companion fare" award code thru my Delta AmEx to use (on the wifey), so we just booked our Carlisle trip! We'll be flying in Friday afternoon to Baltimore, picking up our EconoBox rental car, and heading to the show directly from the airport. We're staying over near Hershey at the Comfort Inn (by Radisson)...not close, but pretty direct along the freeway. And only $75/night!

I figure we'll get there around 4pm Friday and meet and greet some folks, then come back for the full day on Saturday. Well, at least *I* will...the wifey just may take the rental car keys and head to the nearest mall! She's apprehensive after I've dragged her to the local "Back to the Fifties" car show the last few years (11,000+ hot rods in one place).

Come on guys I am sure we can do better than this.
This is supposed to be a big year for Sterlings.
With the aniversary and all going on I was looking forward to atleast 20 cars onsite.
Now that I have a few more cars coming my way I will need alot more ideas for them. It is always better to see them in person and there is alot to see at this show.

Well.. such is the world of a forum and social club with no dues. While I will have some "visual aids" in the form of movies for either Friday or Saturday night (Sterling related CCC movies and maybe Cannonball Run II if we get bored), my special guest won't be able to make it. I was trying to get Mike McBride "Mr. Sterling", the builder who had the cars in the '90's to come in for the weekend. Being older and living on the edge like most of us, he wasn't able to afford the trip. I initially offered to pay for the flights and some room and board as long as Carlisle covered the rest - they didn't. In fact, they are not helping the club at all, even after talking with the promoter for months between last years show and this February. So unfortunately, with the items I do plan to bring just so we can be found on the field, tent rental and other items I need to bring, I simply cannot afford to bring Mike in out of my own pocket.

I'm sorry guys, I really wanted to try to make something special happen this year for those that do attend. Maybe we'll still do a cruise or something to Gettysburg battlefield or up into the mountains on Saturday morning. We'll see what the weather brings...

I ordered my show pass today along with a parking place for my truck and trailer. So now everything has been set and all I have to do is show up with my car.
I hope to bring the red texas car along also just to have another there. It will be cleaned and presentable but far from complete.
It has no windshield so I may talk with Dave and see if he can bring one to the show and we do an install demo. Then Rick can video for the website.

:D I just have to remember my camera! IF (and that's a big IF) I get my car far enough along this month (read: road-ready) I may be pulling my windshield and putting in a new one. If you wanted a demo we can use that one should you not want to pay for a new piece of glass, but mine does have some optical issues, hence my replacing.

Also remember that you need a show pass for each car you bring onto the field. You can get them at the show office when you arrive.

Just ordered the tent and my passes a few minutes ago. We'll have a 20' x 30' tent to huddle under if the weather gets ugly, and I've requested it positioned right next to the pavilion, so that will be another source of cover (and a power source for computers). Just look for the giant flag I hope to have next to the tent!

*thumbs up* That'll work! Just might have to bring some DVD's in addition to the CCC videos (they're short). Anyone for Cannonball Run 2? At least it has a Sterling! And someone should have the original Death Race...

Gonna be there. The car is not ready, so I'll be there on the motorcycle. Looking forward to putting faces with names. I've never been to a big car show, so I'm not really sure what to expect or what goes on.

Got my stickers today. Still have a long way to go and a short time to get there.

Yep, got my stickers last week. Panic Mode in full swing as I try to get the car straightened out!

17 Days left!

Man, you can't give out days left in big red letters like that! I think I pee'd a little. *laugh* I'm leaving on the 15th (can't do 700 miles in one day on a motorcycle). Not sure what to expect. Do I need to bring anything other than my smilin' self and a camera? I'm a first-timer, so I don't want to forget anything.
