Sprung Hood

My hood is sprung on the downward pointing ears. When I close the hood, the ears hit the lexon headlight covers. I have to hold on to the sides of the hood and press inward on both sides to clear the covers. Has anyone come up with an elegant fix? The only thing I could think of was to fab a U-shaped frame for inside of the hood and screw thru the ears but then the countersunk screw heads would probably cause problems. I want to keep as much underhood room as posible.

Take a blowtorch (or high power heatgun) and carefully heat the inside of the ear at the hoodline. Quick passes at about 4" as to not burn the fiberglass. When it gets to the point you can't touch the glass, gently pull inwards and have someone take some duct tape and tape it in place (bridge the ear from the outside to the inside of the hood, creating tension). Do that both sides and let cool. It should stay that way.

Thanks for the info. Mine is sprung also. I was thinking about making a fiberglass support like what you would see under a steel hood. That would pull it back in and stiffen up the whole hood. I will try the heat first to get by.

The heat helped a lot. Still not perfect but much, much better
