Steering Column shaft seal

That's an over priced CV boot. I like the split style seal for firewall.

Overall diameter 2", overall depth 1.15", smallest opening in seal 0.416"
You show me a CV with those dimensions

A trip to a local junk yard will reveal an almost endless supply of those.

Well consider yourself lucky then because I've never seen one here in the junk yards and I've looked.

Dang guys! I posted it to help not to get negative bullshit.

How many times have I been told that members don't have pick a part yards to go to or are to far away from one.

Just trying to help out others. Maybe they don't know this stuff is out there. I know a while back I was looking for something like this to seal off my steering column as it went through the firewall. I wish I had found it sooner.

My reply was not intended to be negative. Sorry if it came out that way. I was just saying that it looks like a vw cv boot but at twice the price (CIP $9.99) (I've paid as little as $4 from my parts supplier).
I like the split style better since you don't have to disassemble anything to install it. I have yet to install mine on the #114 car.

2" seems a bit small for steering joint to sit in and move but ideal for pipes and wiring.

I used a CV boot $5 and made a collar in about 5 minuets from a scrap of alloy sheet.

Not the best shot but the only one I have, (at the moment)

Sorry I took it the wrong way and your right that its over priced for what it is but some times you have no other options and if you want a clean factory look install you just have to suck it up and cough up the money.*thumbs up*
At least its a one time item and it wont need to be replaced any time soon.

As I said before I would have got it if I knew about it sooner. I still might just to see if it would be better than what I have now

I second that acorn nut comment! *hee-hee-hee*

#114 had some funky nuts with split washers on them. 2 had worked loose.
Also the pitman arm didn't have the metal tab retainer / keeper on it and had worked loose.

Proper hardware is so important! Especially for steering and suspension!
