IMHO I think with the 'booty' now on the rear lights now look too small in balance but that's just me.*insane*
I agree. Not sure how I'll address that issue at this time. It took me a long time to find something that would fit in that section and now it doesn't look right.

Well if anyone has noticed I've only posted pictures of the rear straight on. Well there is a reason for that. I'm still not sure if I like the profile that I gave it. So for your viewing pleasure here are some angle shots of the back

Kind of sticks out to far I think. Since this is my third attempt at it I really don't feel like starting over again. That expanding foam isn't cheap.
Yaughn suggested to put a grill piece in that small tapered area between the top section and the bumper section. I think that would make the piece look better so I'm going to look into putting a perforated metal piece in there.

Maybe I'll go to the car grave yard today and see what I can find for backup lights. Also I'll have a few extra sun visors to get rid of after I decide what color the interior will be. I've collected a few in different colors over time because I wasn't sure what color I was going to use. I'm leaning towards a tan color interior. I'll let you know when I'm ready to get rid of them and post what colors I have.

It's a bit "bulldoggy" with an underbite. Not bad, but not quite either. I think some of it is the contrast of the body color. Take some butcher's paper and cover the blue above the bumper (and the bodyline) and see what that does. Cover the lights, too. Might give you some other ideas for different light locations and/or layouts.

I think the step is what's throwing it. Is it possible to blend the sides flush with the sides of the car, then maybe add it a cut line at the back to simulate those pseudo-bumpers that some cars have? Dunno.. I might have to fool around with photoshop tonight if I have time..

After looking at it for a while I think it needs something to bring the top section and the lower section together.

The thought behind doing it that way was to give the back a wider stance look and making it look a little more modern. Maybe I failed in that department.

The picture of that corvette you posted has that bold look as well as the new Camero's. Like I said maybe I just need something to bring the top and bottom together

I think Rick is right as the color difference is making it look way more out of place since your eyes are drawn to the old body line which is the seam rather than the "new" body line of the rear ... we'll call it "bulge." While the existing lines of the car aren't hard lines the curve of the "bulge" is more gradual than the rest of the car - at least so it seems from the pictures.

I definitely wouldn't scrap it yet. *thumbs up*

One way to bring them together is to lower your taillights. Put the taillights between the top and bottom. This will definitely give it a more balanced look and make the bottom not look so heavy.

+1 on maybe lowering the tail lights. When I first looked at the photos it just looked like there was too much area in the new design. It definitely needs to be better broken up so the balance feels correct.

I can not see any light at the end of the tunnel on this.

I'm thinking of cutting my losses and start over. There are just to many things wrong

Dont feel bad brett.
Hell it took me nearly 5 years just to get my design looking right.
Keep working on it. Im sure youll get it.

Ill take the picture you sent me and do some photoshop magic to it and send it back so you can see it as a mock up on the car.

But when I hit the delete button it costs me money so there's a little difference when I have to start over:D

I'm going to try one more thing to try salvage what I got before I start over.

I got a new game plan

It will take a couple of weeks(Maybe) to make the changes

I'm use to not getting it right the first time.

This is what I'm using as a guide.
Tail lights are small and set high and bumper section sits low. license plate position might have to get relocated. it wont have this exact look but if I build that metal piece and put it across as they did it should help the looks. Sides will also get a face lift.

Looks like just tapering the sided down a bit would do it. Follow the general body contours down from the parting line and come to the rear without the "step" along the sides. Accentuate the fender flare at the rear tire. Keep the step at the rear only, and moving the lights down where they center at the parting line (as mentioned earlier) would balance it a bit more. Looks like there is room for a little larger light assembly now? Nice work, just needs some "love" with the re-shaping tools!

That is a LOT better.*thumbs up*

I was forgetting the louvers and rear wing are missing so that would contribute a great deal to the balance as will the actual number plate. I was passed by a Maserati yesterday and I briefly glimpse the rear end and it had a neat slot across the bottom of the valance which ended in larger openings each side with the exhaust tips.
Masarati rear end.jpg

In my humble rendition I have increased the rear light side by 10% and added the current trend of vertical slots and if there were a couple more or a panel in the large areas or maybe a panel each side with slates in to mirror the louves? it would do it without much more reshaping.

The Nova / Sterling rear end is one of the hardest things to improve upon and get right on our cars, especially with engine swaps and low sumps / exhausts to hide.

I though I would share a thread dedicated to the subject on the Euro Nova website. I'm not saying any of these are the answer, but they may get the little grey cells working and you could have some inspiration and a eureka moment (and no not the Australian derivative!).

Show us your rear end!

I think the initial revisions look great! Maybe add some narrow vent sections along the bottom, either side of the detailed area down there? It's definitely getting better.

Hard to back down from a challenge like that.

Those Camry tail lights would work for this
