For those that dont know what a "sleeper" is,... Its a car that looks like its meant to get the groceries*asleep*, but can blow the doors off of other performance cars at the drop of the hammer*going for a drive*.
Subaru has a pair of sleepers, that when unlocked by your local speed shop can really perform.
These also do not have the coveted WRX STI badge on them, making them somewhat cheaper to grab as a donor should you have the opportunity
First is the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Spec B 2003-2009
The next car in this list is the Subaru Outback 2.5 XT limited 2003-2009
Both of these rather common looking Subarus have a detuned 250hp version of the WRX STI engine in them. Once taken to a local tuners shop, the computers can be reprogrammed to hit or exceed 300hp. Not bad for a grocery getter!
For a donor car, these would be great sources for engines and electrical systems for transplanting.
If your not a numbers person, the WRX STI engine has more power and torque than a C4 corvette, and can easily exceed the HP and torque number of the more modern C6. Considering the C6 corvette has a V8, and this is a 4 cylinder,... Thats a pretty powerful engine!!!*thumbs up*
