The finishing touch

Your car isn't finished till you add one of these

A Sun Visor:D:cool:

The skinny ones are out of a VW and Audi and the larger one is out of a Mecedes

Saw them in different colors also. I got one of each just to see which one would work the best, but all three seem to fit with no issues. I like the Mercedes one the best. I like the lines on it.

Oh.. brilliant! I've been trying to figure out how to fit one... without it actually hitting my face in the down position. I'll have to find a junkyard and start trolling - not alot in my area!

Since you were so enthusiastic about it I went and checked which would be the best way to go.

The Mercedes seemed to fit and work the best. Mods need to be done to it for it to fit right.

It came out of a 1992 Mercedes 300.

If you have problems locating one let me know and I MIGHT*laugh* be able to get you a couple.
They are located in the center. between the main visors. just let me know what color your looking for.
You need to remove the rear view mirror to get it

I saw tan, black, red and gray if I remember right. I'm getting old so don't hold me to all of that:D

If you want dimensions on it let me know and I'll get them to you

:D I just have to call some import junkyards to see what they have in stock. Or troll fleabay...

Weird that they would have a center visor and not just extensions off the other two. Oh yeah, it's Benz... never mind!

But yes, if I can't find a couple I will be in touch!

*thumbs up* Scored two off fleabay. Probably not as cheap as the junkyard, but at least I saved you from digging through cars :D

One issue that may be a problem with these is that the rear view mirror may be in the way.

My solution is to install a smaller rear view mirror. Most mirrors that I found are 9"-10" wide which will hit the visors. Today I came across one that is 8" wide and will not be in the way of the visors but it is the glue on style.
My question is will this cause any problems(like stress and eventually crack the window) if I glue it on.
Has anyone installed one of these on their windshield??

Had the glue-on on all my cars, Sterling and buggy alike. My current car I kept knocking it off for some reason (and eventually wouldn't stick, even with super adhesive windshield glue) so I simply screwed it to the canopy top close to the edge. You'll have no issues, Brett.

Mine was glued to the windscreen when I got it. It was next to useless though, would only let you see what was right behind you maybe a meter or two, but beyond that you couldn't see down the road. One day, I accidentally knocked it off. So I ended up drilling a countersunk hole in the little mounting plate, and mounted it on top of my dash pod. The slight interruption to my forward view was worth the major improvement out the rear of the car. Not perfect, but now I can see a fair way down the road behind me.

Where it was previously. Also mounted way to high on the windscreen, you can bearly see it in this photo.

And where it's mounted now;

Who would have thought something as simple as a rear view mirror could be such an issue.
I'll check the view out the rear window and see whats the best location, also it seems that the epoxy base mirror glues seem to work the best on the glass from what I've read on the web.

Two products I have seen in the auto stores for the job, one is a version of superglue, best for two part units with a separate base and double sided pads, best for one piece mirrors, I have a Renault 21 mirror with a separate base and a slide on stem/mirror so I used the glue, I would have to soak it in acetone to get it off.

I have seen on the 'bay a new design of dual camera / DVR and GPS logger built into a mirror, GPS OPTION, nav, recorder, back up, etc, all in one. takes any question of who hit who out of the argument and can be hooked up to your reversing camera too. One is on my 'watch' list anlong with a GPS module.

I like how the "after" cameras cord length is measured in noodles. *laugh*

For $60 bucks it might be worth playing with. I'd have to modify a mount rather than clip it over an existing mirror since that piece has to be offset to the driver's side to clear the forward camera. That alone might interfere with a driver's vision.

I know this is an old topic but I bought a few of these in the past and they worked very well. Put it where ever you want it. Move it around in seconds. Not too big and not too small.
I found when I bought #114 and the mirror was mounted to the canopy above the windshield, it was just way to close to my face. Didn't feel safe and made me feel a bit claustrophobic. I used a suction cup mount mirror, not only could I see much better out the rear window, I felt safer then having something so close to my head/face. I even off set it some and I could see out the side window when trying to pull out of my shop driveway on to a main road. *thumbs up*
I think these are a cheap and very simple solution. If you don't like it, just release the suction cup and toss it. Only 6 or so dollars spent.

Also nice if you have the tint strip on the top of your windshield, You don't have tint around a glued base. and you wont even see the suction cup if you have a tint strip.
