Windshield defroster vents

Ah yeah, and in that position doesn't suit the dash. Maybe the large Volvo vent in the center with two smaller ones on either side?

I kind of liked this look also but the vent just didn't seem to fit the dash right

so this became a "what if project"

this went easier than I thought it would.

I had that one vent from the VW Jetta(The car uses just a single vent) that I thought fit the dash pretty good, Sooo what if I took the screen cover off of the Volvo vent and put it on the Jetta vent. The width fit pretty good but of course I had to shorten the length to fit the Jetta vent.

The one thing that I needed to do is to reshape the ends to fit the lines of the new vent.

I took a piece of aluminum and made a form to reshape the perforated material around.

It took me longer to shape the aluminum than it did to shape the perforated material.

With some gentle tapping with a block of wood it was finished. I still need to touch up the black paint at the edges a little but overall it was a easy job

I agree. it sure changes the looks. This will be the vent going into the dash.

Volvo was the only manufacturer that I found so far that had a cover like this on their vents. Now if I install some small speakers in the dash and those screens match the vents it should look half way decent I think.

I had never seen your dash before .... wow! I love it. I guess I did similar with the new dash I built but had I seen this I would have needed to up my game quite a bit. Upped more then I think I am capable. *thumbs up*

Would love it if you posted a few more photos.

That is looking 'kin WICKED! Lovely workmanship Brett. Shame I have this love hate relationship with GRP, just can't get to grips with the stuff.
